Count Nicolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf

The Zinzendorf Family

Count Maximilian Erasmus von Zinzendorf

Zinzendorf’s family was listed among the Austrian nobility. His grandfather (1633-1672) shown here, Count Maximilian Erasmus von Zinzendorf, was born in Vienna. He could have held office in the Austrian government, but that government was Catholic and he was Protestant. So he and his Countess, Anna Amaloie (1638-1696), moved to their castle near Nuremberg in Germany. They had five children including George Ludwig (1662-1700), the father of Nicolaus Ludwig.
